The author of the last book in the Old Testament

Malachi is a prophet in the Hebrew Bible (or Tanakh for Jews) and the Old Testament in the Christian Bible. Malachi is the last prophet in the line of minor prophets, and author of the Book of Malachi, the last book in the Christian edition of the Old Testament canon (Malachi 4: 4-6), and the last book in the collection of Nevi'im (prophets) in the Jewish Tanakh.

The prophet Malachi had a courageous and uncompromising nature in exposing and denouncing the sinners of the day illustrated that the prophet's zeal for repentance and renewal was burning like wildfire.

The book of Malachi is the last book in the Old Testament which is included in the book of the minor prophets. Traditionally, this book is believed to have been written by a man named Malachi. The book of Malachi is one of the books written after the exile. This is because the calendar corresponds to the period in which the construction of the temple of Zerubbabel was completed before the arrival of Ezra and Nehemiah.

Other evidence pointing to this dating is that the problem of divorce which appears in the book of Malachi is the same problem faced by both Ezra and Nehemiah. The language spoken at that time resembled Hebrew during the exile and in the early days after the exile. It was approximately 514-456 this book was written.

The name Malachi is found nowhere else in the Bible. There is a strong suspicion that the name Malachi is an abbreviation of the name Malakhiya. This name means the messenger of Yahova. There is a relationship between the opening verse in chapter 1 and the beginning of chapter 3, namely the mention of the term "Malachi" (it can be interpreted as: the name "Malachi"; or the word "my messenger"). In this verse, "malachi" (= Malachi) is the name of the prophet who affirms that he is a messenger from God.

The book of Malachi deals with God's love for Israel, a description of Israel's sin, the punishment for mixed marriage and divorce, the coming of the Lord's Day, repentance and tithing, and the promise of salvation for godly people.

Malachi prophesied for the people who had returned from exile by giving a key point to the coming of the predecessor to the Messiah. However, this book claims that Israel doubted God's love for him. Therefore, the Israelites received a rebuke from God because they had insulted God, namely by calling Him "Father" by mouth but doing deeds that insulted Him.
