The prophet Joel is thought to have lived long after Israel's return from exile in Babylon. At that time, religious life was strongly controlled by the priests, the temple had been built and used as a place of worship. The country is in good political and religious condition. The Israelites lived in a high spirit of worship which was shown by the zeal of the people to repent and pray. However, these conditions cause Israel to become a group that is very concerned about being limited to inward interests and does not play a role in the wider environment.

BackGod's choice
Joel is one of the twelve minor prophets and compilers of the Book of Joel. The prophet Joel in the Christian Bible sequence is placed after the prophet Hosea, as the second minor prophet in that order. He was Petuel's son. His personal identity is known only through his book. The name Joel means "the LORD is God". He worked around the Temple, so that he was called a prophet cult.
The prophet's message (-830)
Joel's preaching is between prophecy and apocalyptic. He proclaimed that the day of the LORD was nearby sight of the plague of the locusts, which destroy all vegetation, especially those in the gardens. This has become an eschatological sign of the coming of the Lord's day. [4] [6] He called on his people to hold a fast day. He preached a particularistic salvation, namely salvation for Israel only and punishment for other nations.
